The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s largest granting foundations. With a budget of over $136 million, OTF awards grants to some 1,000 projects every year to build healthy and vibrant Ontario communities.
Each year, more than 3,000 applications are reviewed by hundreds of volunteers. Supported by professional and experienced staff, volunteers bring knowledge of local needs and a wide range of expertise to the decision-making process.
In 2013, OTF celebrated its 30th anniversary as a grantmaker and thought leader. To mark this important milestone, grant recipients past and present were invited to share their views on the impact the Foundation has had on their organizations, the people they serve, and their communities.
We developed two short reports that capture how the Foundation has evolved over the past 30 years, and how it might move forward.
- In Looking Back (pdf) we interviewed OTF stakeholders, asking them to reflect on the history, accomplishments and impact of the Foundation.
- In Looking Forward (pdf), our stakeholders, including past grant recipients and OTF volunteers, offer insights on trends and opportunities they think should inform the Foundation’s future strategic direction as part of the next phase of its evolution.
