OTF Celebrates Black Heritage Month

A group of people celebrating Black Heritage Month.

In February, Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) staff across Ontario will commemorate Black Heritage Month. As we recognize the resilience, courage and history of the Black Communities that make up the diverse fabric of our province, we also celebrate their rich cultural heritage, accomplishments, and experiences.

At OTF, we build healthy and vibrant communities by ensuring we are reflective of the diversity of the organizations we support. Building on our history and continued support, we act by our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and help all communities across Ontario thrive.

During Black Heritage Month and throughout the year, we continue to organize various learning activities to address Black Lives Matter in the workplace. We are also celebrating Black people’s successes and legacy by hosting a series of events with our staff and various leaders of the community.

Our work at OTF is part of the greater work that the Government of Ontario is currently doing with the Ontario’s Anti-Black Racism Strategy. This roadmap addresses anti-Black racism and aims to improve outcomes for Black communities by reducing the inequities and barriers faced by Black people.

During Black Heritage Month and beyond, we continue to learn and take time to celebrate together with our staff and communities.
