Our Investment Strategy
Investing for impact
With the help of leaders in the public benefit sector and relying on the expertise of our staff and volunteers, OTF has identified the most important changes that should happen in Ontario over the next decade for communities to be more healthy and vibrant.
Each element of our strategy builds on the next so that we can measure the impact of each investment. We are confident that over time, the cumulative impact of all the investments we make will be reflected in positive changes to the Canadian Index of Wellbeing – and will improve the quality of life for people in Ontario.

To lead change that matters in communities, we have identified six Action Areas
And for each area, a set of Priority Outcomes are backed by leading research and practice in the nonprofit sector. Every grant we make is an investment in only those activities that will achieve one of these priorities. Every grant recipient makes a commitment to achieve specific results with the support of our knowledgeable and experienced staff.
We have different granting programs, to meet different needs.
For over 30 years, our core business has been to invest in community-based initiatives that help build healthy and vibrant communities throughout Ontario. Every year, more than 3,000 applications are received, and over $110 million in grants is awarded to some 1,300 public benefit sector organizations. Learn more about our investment streams…
