Funds will also support community awareness events, education sessions and a train-the-trainer program.

To hire project assistants, purchase equipment, and run programs that will allow young people to broaden their interest and participate in the art of choral music. Funds will also be used to form a small jazz vocal group within the choir, conduct clinics and workshops, and host an annual choral festival.

To hire a program coordinator and art instructors, and to purchase a van to implement Art-on-the-Go. This program will bring visual arts training and experience to over 600 elementary and secondary school students as well as to community groups and community centres each year. Funds will also support a 12-week mentoring and training program for young people to enhance their knowledge, experience and interest in the arts.

To develop an innovative weekly urban arts and recreation program for youth living with mental health issues or facing other challenges. The program will be offered from Nexus Youth Services and other community venues in Mississauga. Funds will be used for a coordinator's salary, urban artist fees and other program expenses.

To purchase a 26-foot refrigerated truck and hire a driver. The truck will enable the organization to collect and distribute healthy, fresh food to over 90 outreach sites across Halton Region.

To create an innovative program that will enable new Canadians with farming experience or an interest in farming to cultivate opportunities, pathways and skills into farming and Ontario's food sector. This collaborative initiative will use funds to help with salaries, greenhouse renovations, and program and equipment costs.

To implement Halton's strategic plan for family engagement in child and youth mental health issues. The Halton Families for Families is a collaborative initiative designed to improve existing family-professional partnerships and provide support to parents, resulting in more positive outcomes for children and youth. Funding will be used to hire a Family Engagement Coordinator, and to help with program and administrative costs.

To develop a system where community organizations, funders and collaborative initiatives in Peel are able to share community development information. It will also provide agencies with options around a shared, interactive data system, allowing them to enhance local planning. Funds will be used for salaries and other program costs.

$150,000 over 24 months

To support a collaborative initiative focused on resource development in Peel and Halton. Nine community-based organizations will work together with a consulting team to develop and strengthen their respective infrastructures and their capacity to be more financially viable and sustainable. This will result in more knowledge sharing among local agencies and provide fundraising training for participating employees and volunteers.
