Marketing will ensure that the community is well aware of this new on-demand service.

To assist families experiencing postpartum depression by establishing a peer-support service for women across Brant Haldimand and Norfolk. A marketing plan will be developed to encourage mothers to call the Postpartum Support Line and a part-time coordinator will seek out, train and help volunteers provide confidential telephone support.

To increase opportunities for free recreational activity for residents of Fisherville and the surrounding rural area. A new multipurpose and accessible outdoor facility will be constructed to provide a large covered rink for outdoor skating in the winter and an arena for ball hockey, basketball, tennis, shuffleboard and walking at other times of the year.

To increase access to training on aging and developmental disabilities. Key contacts at local long-term care and developmental services agencies in Haldimand and Norfolk will be trained. These trainers will in turn train front-line staff on how best to help people with developmental disabilities who are experiencing dementia and other age-related conditions.

To support ecosystem restoration and land stewardship work underway in Haldimand and Norfolk. A resource manager will be hired to seek grants and corporate sponsorships in support of environmental restoration projects led by local volunteers.

To increase access to healthy, affordable food for Brantford residents by supporting upgrades and operating costs for a volunteer operated bus which will transport low income families to grocery stores. The bus will also be used to transport food supplies to volunteer based emergency food providers in the city.

To increase job opportunities for people with mental health and addictions by supporting the development of new social enterprise business for the agency. Funds will also support hiring a coordinator.

Grant funds will contribute to the purchase of a large cube van, so that food donations can be picked up in fewer trips, thereby making more effective use of staff and volunteer time.

To increase arts programming offered to children and adults in Brantford and surrounding communities and to enhance the financial sustainability of the gallery. The grant will contribute to the creation of two new staff positions which will focus on the development of new sponsorship and partnership opportunities and the creation of new family oriented arts programming.
