To hire part-time staff, strengthen board governance and deliver programs that engage audiences through Canadian literary works, including those with an Aboriginal, new immigrant or children's perspective. The funding allows for the installation of 10 new ‘bookmarks”, poster-sized ceramic plaques with text from stories and poems, in the exact physical locations where these literary scenes are set.

To develop an innovative Labour Market Information web portal for the region that incorporates best practices, simplified information, and data analysis that will help job seekers, employers and training organizations make informed decisions. Funding will support staffing needs as well as web and social media expertise to ensure the data collected is local, timely, simplified and accessible.

To install a new, energy-efficient, walk-in freezer in the food bank facility. This new appliance will reduce costs and help to ensure that adequate amounts of food may be stored for distribution to approximately 3,000 people annually in this small rural community.

To make the pool fully accessible by contributing to the renovation of the change house. Each year, the pool provides swim lessons to over 500 participants and receives up to 8,000 visits.

To better serve a growing membership and expand opportunities for more children and youth to participate in the sport of wrestling. Wrestling mats will be purchased, certification courses in coaching and refereeing will be offered and two new satellite programs will be established in the Ottawa region.

To strengthen the organization's capacity by funding a part-time executive director position and some administration costs. This will help the organization create concrete accountability processes and establish greater credibility in the community.

To develop the birthplace of Sir Frederick Banting into a diabetes prevention and education centre and unique New Tecumseth heritage site. Plans include organizing school and public tours, digitizing and creating a permanent display of over 1200 Banting-related artifacts, and building public awareness of the renovated homestead's health-education and heritage value.

To support structural and health and safety upgrades including electrical, plumbing, kitchen and washroom renovations. By meeting all health and safety requirements, the community will have full use of the only accessible public meeting space in Newbury while the legion will realize a savings in electrical consumption.
