THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW CHAIR OF THE BOARD
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Jackson as the Chair to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The appointment was confirmed on June 15, 2017 at the Foundation’s Annual General Meeting.
Two years into the implementation of a new outcomes-based investment strategy, OTF is committed to focusing on creating measurable, positive impact in Ontario communities. As the new Chair, Tim will provide leadership and guidance to support the Foundation’s position as a leader in evidence-based, fair and accountable grant making practices.
Tim was first appointed to the Foundation’s Board in December 2013 and has been Treasurer since June 2015. He is currently the CEO of SHAD, a Canadian charity that empowers exceptional high school students to become the leaders of tomorrow. Before joining SHAD in July 2016, Tim was the EVP Corporate and Community Development and Lead Executive Centre for Impact Investing at the MaRS Discovery District. Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (FCA/FCPA), and has a long history as an entrepreneur and business leader.
Tim is an active member of his community and has chaired the boards of several charitable organizations including the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, the Centre in the Square Theatre, the Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum, the Waterloo Public Library, Capacity Waterloo, Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region, Magicana and, Communitech. He has volunteered with other organizations including the United Way of Kitchener Waterloo & Area, Foodbanks Canada, The University of Waterloo and the Canadian Task Force on Social Finance.
Tim’s community awards include the Michael R. Follett Community Leader of the Year Award (2012) presented to an individual who “created or facilitated significant solutions to meet community needs and inspired others to achieve excellence” and the inaugural Waterloo Record Barnraiser Award (2009) for “inspirational, collaborative achievement in Waterloo Region”.
Tim is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics including: leadership, community building, impact investing, innovation and corporate culture.
Tim replaces Janet Yale who has led the Board since 2015.
- The Chair of the Board of Directors, along with the other members of the Board, is appointed by the Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
- OTF is an agency of the Government of Ontario and one of Canada’s largest granting foundations.
- OTF is currently in the process of recruiting a new CEO.
