The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s largest granting foundations. With a budget of over $136 million, OTF awards grants to some 1,000 projects every year to build healthy and vibrant Ontario communities.

The mission of the Ontario Trillium Foundation is to build these communities throughout Ontario by strengthening the capacity of the voluntary sector, through investments in community-based initiatives. The values guide the Foundation, direct their activities and help shape their culture. Volunteers and staff reflect these values in their actions and relationships.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation is appointed by, and reports to, the Board of Directors. The CEO provides leadership and vision, and manages the operations of the Foundation. The CEO also fulfills the responsibilities of the position as defined in the Memorandum of Under-standing with the Government of Ontario. The CEO will lead, and continue to evolve an organization that plays a vital role as a catalyst, convenor, and capacity builder. The Foundation’s strategic investments are key contributors to the vitality and economic health of communities around the Province. The Foundation and its CEO balance the role of arm’s-length agency of the provincial government, and nonprofit sector leader. The new CEO will ensure that the organization’s role and impact are fully understood and supported by government and the public. Under the leadership of the new CEO, Ontario Trillium Foundation will continue to focus on collaboration and partnership opportunities that extend its reach and leverage public funds to further benefit Ontario’s communities.

As the ideal candidate, you possess experience as a CEO, executive leader, or volunteer leader in the nonprofit, broader public sector, or private sector with a proven track record of running a large, preferably national nonprofit organization with a complex governance model. You also possess experience reporting to a Board and have managed a business or business units coupled with substantial governance experience in a nonprofit setting. You are a compelling communicator and public speaker who is diplomatic, comfortable and credible at all levels. You will have demonstrated an ability to foster an environment of transparency and open communication, collaboration, and trust. You are also able to work in a highly political environment and can manage the relationships with various stakeholders. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates – English and French.
