Tim Jackson is the Foundation’s Board Chair since June 2017. He was first appointed to the Foundation’s Board in December 2013 and was Treasurer since June 2015.
He is currently the CEO of SHAD, a Canadian charity that empowers exceptional high school students to become the leaders of tomorrow. Before joining SHAD in July 2016, Tim was the EVP Corporate and Community Development and Lead Executive Centre for Impact Investing at the MaRS Discovery District. Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (FCA/FCPA), and has a long history as an entrepreneur and business leader.
Tim is an active member of his community and has chaired the boards of several charitable organizations including the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, the Centre in the Square Theatre, the Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum, the Waterloo Public Library, Capacity Waterloo, Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region, Magicana and, Communitech. He has volunteered with other organizations including the United Way of Kitchener Waterloo & Area, Foodbanks Canada, The University of Waterloo and the Canadian Task Force on Social Finance.
Tim’s community awards include the Michael R. Follett Community Leader of the Year Award (2012) presented to an individual who “created or facilitated significant solutions to meet community needs and inspired others to achieve excellence” and the inaugural Waterloo Record Barnraiser Award (2009) for “inspirational, collaborative achievement in Waterloo Region”.
Tim is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics including: leadership, community building, impact investing, innovation and corporate culture.
