Abdullah Snobar is the Executive Director of the DMZ at Ryerson University, responsible for the strategic direction and continued growth of the DMZ in Toronto, nationally and internationally. Under his leadership the DMZ has been ranked the number one university incubator in North America and third in the world by UBI Global. Abdullah is responsible for driving the DMZ’s key priorities forward: providing innovative and customized support for startups, increasing business development and market expansion opportunities, and fostering stronger local and international community partnerships.
In his previous roles as the Director of Community and Business Development, Abdullah spearheaded the creation of an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) program, set the strategic direction for building industry, government and international partnerships and established stronger connections with incubators and accelerators. As Manager of Undergraduate Student Relations and Development at the Office of the Dean at the Ted Rogers School of Management, he advised and supported the dean on business development initiatives, international recruitment, student relations and internal affairs. Abdullah has a diverse professional background, which includes experience with the Canadian Armed Forces, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and building his own group-buying startup, Social Butler.
Abdullah participates in numerous industry, community and cultural boards, most recently joining the Toronto Core Leadership Table and CivicAction’s DiverseCity 2016 Mentors committee. He also helped create SupaMaasai, a non-profit foundation in Kenya that strives to improve the quality of living for the Maasai community, with a focus on women and youth. Abdullah holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson University.
